Hi All -
I'm thrilled after four agonizing years without a classic to be back in the hobby. This time with a car "done right", and one of my favorite designs ever, a 62 Caddy. It's a 2003 body-on complete resto, original colors, bone stock except exhaust and radials. About 7K on it since the resto. It arrived in Cincinnati just before we left on vacation. Only had time to hit one cruise-in and run my sons around on a few trips. When we get back home I'll get pics for an album and specs for the registry. I have been enjoying reading up on the threads on this site! So glad it's here. Great information, great folks. These cars are SUCH goodwill ambassadors. People just start talking to you, and shouting out. Must be the fins and skirts. The 61-62 Cads have such clean lines, and they just seem to make people happy. Loving it so far - more later. Keith |

Glad to see you were nearby. If there's a cruise-in somewhere along 74 it would be interesting to meet up sometime, make a show of force. Plus I have to see the finish on your car in person - it looks incredible in the photos. |

Keith,
The Vin will give you the production Number of the car. The Outlet code which can be had from The Cadillac Heritage Center will tell you where it was sold. I can calculate your build date from your vin but info from Heritage center will give you much more. Mine came from San Francisco Thanks for the pait comment ... you are the first to notice. That is a single stage Paint called U-tech 3.8 ...By Dupont. It is a show paint used to simulate Laquer. Their Single Stage black is very deep like the original Magic Mirror Laquer used by Cadillac. It does not cost more than 2 stage clearcoat paint .... Its just very hard to apply .... then lots of rubbing to get the depth of the gloss. I am pretty okay with it ..... I person people do comment on the paint on it when its clean ........ Believe it or not the car is dirty in this picture ... I have been driving it daily though this good weather we have had for the last month. At the end of the day ... single stage show paint or Clearcoat two stage really doesnt matter ... just enjoy the car .... and be happy even if you nick it .. wreck it or destroy it .... It's a 62 Cadillac and you can always rebuild it. ...... Just having one is great. Thanks for the compliment. Rf

Paint on mine is pretty good, but no trophy winner. I knew the answer on your paint was going to be a lot of elbow grease! Not to flatter, but the depth of the gloss is huge and really shows thru in the photos. Someone clearly spent weeks working that out.
Reminds me of a black Chevelle SS I parked next to at the last show. I swear you could see his car reflected in my car... reflected in HIS car. He got 1st R/U; I got a free bottle of water. But that's fine - I agree it's meant to be driven, and we're not sweating the imperfections. I really intend to get an album and registry out there, but for argument's sake the VIN is 62F109170. I'm guessing that's about a May 62 build date or so. Would love to know more from the Heritage Center. Thanks |

I actually called the museum on about the 2nd day the car was listed. Had been searching, just as you said, for "the right car". This one punched all the buttons. BUT - I screwed around, finally called them back a few days later, and it was already sold! I told George if anything falls thru on the sale, CALL me. It did - and he did - and I sent them a deposit check on the spot and bought a plane ticket. The day I went out to MInneapolis, George said he had a list of 3 or 4 guys to call that afternoon if I didn't take it. Guess one of them was you! I think I commented in your album - yours is a beautiful example, and the color is fantastic. And, hey, it was an awful lot closer to you too. Good luck also. Keith |
